Hi friend and fellow entrepreneur
Today I wanted to discuss the important topic of the 80-20 rule…it relates in every aspect of Your life.
So What Is The 80-20 Rule All About?
The 80-20 rule is aA principle, named after economist Vilfredo Pareto, that specifies an unequal relationship between inputs and outputs. The principle states that, for many phenomena, 20% of invested input is responsible for 80% of the results obtained. Put another way, 80% of consequences stem from 20% of the causes.
It Teaches Us How To Get 80% Of The Result In Our Life With Only 20% Of The Effort.
There’s a scientific law, demonstrated in business and economics, stating that the grand majority of results come from a little minority of causes or effort.
In business, 80 percent of earnings come from 20 percent of clients and 20 percent of products.
So look at what truly matters. Get rid of Your To Do List and look at your Not to Do List. Quit doing anything that isn’t of value or doesn’t make you happy. and if there are things you absolutely must get done but you do not like, outsource them…
Life is more comfortable and more fun after you arrive at a couple of big conclusions:
What sort of individual you wish to be?
Who you care most about?
What’s your dreams and goals?
Where are you placing energy that is not leading to happiness?
What are your best qualities and skills?
What components of yourself now are not real reflection of whom you are and who you want to become?
Look at how much time you spend with your loved ones and rearrange your life so you live near your loved one and best friends and see them a great deal. Ensure you are committing to the one you love. Many of us give more thought to the home and business. By striving too much, we make it difficult to keep the ones we car about happy and consequently make ourselves unhappy and our success is affected. Untill you do less you will never accomplish what is worthwhile.
I myself am the worst culprit for this…so focussed on buidling a successful business and online business from home…I am missing out on time with my family…I clicked recently when I have heard my youngest daughter ask me many times to play with her and I said I am just finishing this and before I know it she is in bed..today I will be playing with my daughter…and when I do it is the most precious moment and fun.
How many times have you noted people in your business making the same errors again and again, this is a reflection of the person not putting the 80/20 rule to use. As Ben Franklin said – doing the same thing again and again and anticipating different outcomes is the definition of insanity.
Take a little time today to consider how you’re spending your time. Are you spending it on the 20% of actions that will impart you 80% of the results you are looking for. If not, why not. If you make the Change you will see a dramatic Change in your life for the better.
Building a business and a great income is not a race..the laws of the universe tells us that there is more than enough for everyone….
I know of one succesful business woman who said she was successful working hard, but when she put this rule in place she actually had more success and profits by spending less time on the business and spending more time for her family and doing the fun things she liked. So work that out less time more money. It works only 20 percent produces the results…
Put this into practice and please let me know the results you have. Please comment and share.
To your success and happiness
Ellen

Great Post Ellen! Thank you for reminding me what’s important in life. I too have put off doing fun things thinking I “need” to get this done.
And very true success is not a race

Such an important concept to know. Hey Ellen love this article! It’ so easy to get discouraged when building a business that things aren’t moving fast enough. But when you are aware of the Pareto principle then you have to realize that the laws of 80 /20 really do apply.

Ellen, excellent points in your post. I just had a conversation with someone yesterday about the 80-20 rule. Your article did a better job of breaking it down to a science. Great job. There are only so many webinars, books, seminars and the list goes on before you are on info overload. You can spend so much time a week on things that although while “good stuff” that will keep you in the always getting ready to get ready phase. Thanks for the reminder!
Hi Ellen,
