just a decent little video Camera?

Im looking for a video camera. Needs to be $300 or less, preferably HD at least 720 1080 would be nice though.

Its main use is going to be filming friends dirtbiking or filming myself. or fliming friends or myself skiing. Or just filming random stuff happening.

I was thinking a Go Pro Helmet cam but they seem expensive for what they are and they arent really good for filming say a friend catching a big fish or shooting a big deer. BUT the go pro would be cool because i could mount it onto my dirtbike or onto my ski pole and carry iteverywehre pretty easy and it would be a lot less likely to break.

Guess i just want a video camera that can handle riding around on a dirtbike in a back pack but also be nice enough to get some filming close up.

One other camera to look at is the ContourHD. You can find these on Ebay for just over $200. You will also want to get a larger MicroSD card. It comes with 2GB. I would recommend 8GB. The ContourGPS costs a bit more and it has a GPS built in.

The Contour shoots in 720 or 1080. In 1080, the battery doesn’t last very long and it chews up the memory pretty quickly. I rent these out to people coming to Colorado to ski and mountain bike. I set the cameras to 720 so that the battery will last up to 2 hours. You should be able to capture an entire day of action in 2 hours of footage.

The GoPro is a good camera. I chose the Contour because I preferred the design. I didn’t want my customers looking like Teletubbies. The Contour also costs a bit less than the GoPro.
